Join one of our guides for a private half or full day cross country skiing excursion on the trails of Acadia National Park. Each course is tailored to meet your experience and ambition, on either groomed or ungroomed terrain. Explore the carriage trails as they wind through gentle forests or up mountainsides,  ski off-trail across lakes and frozen bogs, or follow the closed Park Loop Road along the ocean shore and over Otter Cliffs. Discover the benefits of having your own guide by your side to offer as much or as little instruction as you want, and make sure you stay comfortable and well prepared on your winter adventure!

If you are new to Cross Country skiing, you might enjoy a 1-hr beginner lesson followed by a 3 mile ski on flat carriage roads or lake.  If you already feel somewhat comfortable on skis, but would like to improve technique and efficiency or explore new trails, one of our guides could accompany you on a 5-7 mile ski to build not only those skills, but confidence and pointers on how to be comfortable and prepared on longer winter adventures in the woods.  For those looking to go farther on skis than you might be comfortable with alone, or those who want to explore trails that are off the beaten track with someone who knows the ins and outs of the park, the possibilities are endless!  Ski to the summit of Cadillac Mountain via the closed auto road and experience having the mountain all to yourself! Tackle the challenging 12 mile Around Mountain carriage road loop with the option of a snowshoe detour to the top of Sargent Mt!  Try an all-day lake to lake adventure, and experience the wildness and solitude of these vast open spaces often missed by those sticking solely to established trails.

In addition to teaching you the basic classic-style nordic skiing techniques, your guide can tell you about the winter ecology of Acadia, and help you ID the different animal tracks and you will undoubtedly encounter!  If you are interested, we can also teach you  basic winter wilderness skills, like how to read ice and tell whether it is safe for travel, learn about the different types of snow and how they affect your ability to travel on skis, and understand how to dress and be prepared to comfortably deal with any weather or temperatures that come your way with what you can carry in your day pack.

If desired, we can include the additional option of a gourmet winter picnic for the trail, catered by one of our guides (who also happens to be a personal chef!), that would include hot soup, hot beverages, and a selection of cheeses, meats, and homemade baked goods in addition to other trails snacks for shorter stops along the way. (Price of $25 per person)
